PROPHETIC WORDS
TRUMPETS AND TRUMPETERS
by Janet Chambers
February 2022
This prophetic word was delivered by Janet Chambers at the 2022 New Zealand Council of Prophets gathering held in Christchurch on the 24th February.
The following is a summation of a vision that I had at the beginning of this year and the interpretation of it. Through it I believe the Lord is showing the church of New Zealand, the following things –
There is a systematic and critical clean–up that the Lord is doing to prepare significant voices in and for the nation.
God is requiring humility and vulnerability at a deeper level to enable this to happen.
Now is not the time to be “blowing your own trumpet”, but it is a season of allowing deep heart–searching and healing to happen.
“If the trumpet sounds a muffled call who will get ready for battle?” 1 Cor 14:8 Berean Bible. This chapter in the book of Corinthians is about prophecy, the benefits of prophecy over tongues, and about giving clear messages.
In the Amplified Bible…
14:1 especially that you may prophesy
14:2 But one who speaks in an unknown tongue speaks not to men but to God, for no one understands or catches his meaning…
14:5 but more especially I want you to prophecy
14:8 And if the war bugle gives an uncertain (indistinct, uncertain, obscure, call), who will prepare for battle?
The Vision
I saw a vision of a long line of trumpeters, with trumpets in hand, ready to blow. Outwardly these trumpets looked shiny, and the trumpeters were aligned in military uniform. As I walked In front of the trumpeters I saw shorn sheep’s wool stuffed into the ends of the trumpets. I looked closer and saw that the wool was dirty. It was the “dags” of the sheep – the dirty wool from around the hind quarters of the sheep, that which should have been discarded. This had been stuffed into the trumpets. On closer inspection I saw maggots in some of the wool. If those trumpeters put the trumpets to their lips I knew that the maggots would go into their mouths and lungs – their inmost parts – completely contaminating and infesting them.
I saw a large hand come and begin to pull out the filthy wool from the first trumpet. The impression in the vision was that the entire line needed to be unmuffled and cleaned up, and that the Lord was systematically doing just that.
Interpretation of the vision
Researching, I discovered these things…
About trumpets
A trumpet should be wiped outside every day, bathed every month by full immersion, and oiled 2-3 times per week.
Not cleaning it can cause respiratory disease and affect the breath of the trumpeter.
One of the key oils used to maintain a trumpet is anhydrous lanolin ( which comes from sheep’s wool!)
About wool and its lanolin
Anhydrous lanolin is taken from shorn sheep’s wool that has been submersed and washed thoroughly. Once the impurities are removed it’s called anhydrous. Clean oil!
Interestingly it is essential for the health of the sheep, to protect its wool and skin for the climate and environment. (The oil necessary for health and protection).
It is detectable for 72 hours after application and is frequently used in protecting skin in cosmetics and in baby skin treatments. (It sticks and lubricates simultaneously).
It is used on ships to coat propellers and stern gear from barnacles, not allowing that which would try to cling and slow down progress to adhere.
It is used to maintain metals in contact with each other on ships that are in contact with salt water, where corrosion would be a problem. (It protects the integrity of relationships between substances).
It is used to produce Vitamin D3 – this vitamin is essential in charging up our immune system to fight, and just as importantly, in turning down the immune response (stopping the body from damaging itself once the threat is over).
In its clean form, this oil – anhydrous lanolin, that comes from sheep’s wool – has characteristics very symbolic of what is needed in the church and in our relationships…
lubricating, blessing, and helping the health of prophets
protecting relationships
stopping negative contaminants from sticking
promoting a desire to arise and fight in battle, and then
promoting the calm after the battle.
A clear relationship is evident and necessary between the oil of sheep’s wool and the trumpet.
The connections and relationships within the Body of Christ are so important. I see a necessary relationship and application of the anointing oil that is on people’s lives, onto and into the lives of trumpeters and the prophetic gift (trumpet). We need the lubrication of relationships in the Body. Isolation will not benefit the trumpet – it needs the lanolin off the sheep’s wool, it seizes up without the oil. However allowing contaminated wool, dags from other sheep – that which is poopy and sat upon, fears, bitterness, judgements, criticisms, unforgiveness – to be filling the trumpet chamber, muffles the sound and potentially sickens the trumpeter (prophet).
Some questions
Why was the dirty wool in the trumpets?
Was it stuffed there by the trumpeters, or forcibly put there by others, or did it just accumulate over time?
Perhaps there are different reasons for each trumpeter, but the important facts were…
The trumpets were going to make an indistinct, muffled, uncertain and obscure sound if they were played in that state.
Some of the trumpeters were in risk of serious illness if they played their trumpets in the state they were in.
A clean-up process was necessary, and beginning.
What has been allowed to accumulate in our prophetic trumpets?
What remains that has been forcibly put there to stifle and muffle our sound?
What judgements and criticisms have tried to shut us up, or quieten us down?
Let the oil remain, let the clean anointing oil and impartation, encouragement and love remain. Let’s keep building into those key healthy relationships that allow the clean oil to rub on us, but simultaneously allow the Lord to remove the muffling, baffling forces.
Three Essential times for trumpeters to make a clear sound
A wake–up call
A time to assemble
A time for war
To be able to sound any of these calls, a trumpeter must have a clean, lubricated and functioning trumpet, but he must also resolve within himself to blow the trumpet regardless of the reaction from the troops. The sound made may be met with dismay, annoyance, anger, or disbelief. The trumpeter must have no fear of his fellow infantrymen. He finds himself in a position facing the potential wrath and rejection of his comrades, or the disapproval and punishment of his commander-in-chief.
He has a responsibility to follow orders. It feels unpleasant at the time, but the repercussions of not sounding the trumpet far outweigh the current discomfort of making a loud ,clear, startling sound.
Post Note:
For a New Zealand prophet, “rattle your dags” mean to “get going” and to “move with urgency”. There is a play on words here where we are being told to rattle those dags and get free from them.
It’s time to clear out intimidation, fear of man, and things stuffed within, and allow the Lord to unmuffle your sound. We must deal urgently with the fear of man, and intimidation or anything else that's choked our sound, and “rattle our dags” about it.
PRAYER POINTS
Prayer is not just us coming to God with a list of requests. As part of our relationship with Him, it is us having a conversation with the Lord, which involves talking and listening on both sides. The following prayer points are some things you can talk to Him about in regards to this prophetic word.
Pray that God would lovingly expose any contamination that has been allowed to infiltrate the lives of God’s people and prophets, and therefore muffle the prophetic sound of God’s people or His prophets.
Pray for those things to be brought to the light, repented of, and healing to take place if need be.
Pray for a clear, distinct, and uncompromised sound to come forth from God’s people and His prophets in the coming days.
