THE 'GO' IN GOD'S RELENTLESS LOVE

As I was in worship recently I began to hear two words over and over in my spirit. Those two words were ‘relentless’ and ‘go’. As I asked the Lord about them He spoke with me about His relentless love and the effect that relentless love would have on our lives.

As He shared I began to experience a strong sense of that love envelope me. His love is a love that was so strong that He was willing to leave Heaven for us, giving everything so that we could know His relentless love. He pursued us into the darkness and there He found us and rescued us, promising us that He would never leave us or forsake us. What relentless love that is!

The Lord shared with me that He wanted each of us to know the relentlessness of His love for us experientially, but also that He was going to fill us with that same unrelenting love. That filling would have an effect that would cause us to ‘go’.

The Lord said, that before that ‘go’ happened He needed to do an overhaul of the belief systems that we have around the word ‘go’. Many of us have ideas that are based on wrong understandings about what it means to ‘go into all the world and share His love’.

Many have believed that ‘go’ means they have to somehow transform themselves into an evangelist driven to win souls, or become a missionary to unknown lands. The word ‘go’ has so often been wrapped around understandings and images so far outside our personalities, skills or gifts that it frightens us and convinces us that we don’t have what it takes.

He said that that we needed to surrender to Him our beliefs around that word, allow Him to overhaul them and set them right. In the setting right of those beliefs He would also deal with any fear that was attached to that word ‘go’.

Simultaneously with our thinking being overhauled, we will experience a corresponding filling with the relentless love of God. This love would be the initiator of our going, it would be what would compel us – not in a driven way, but in a way that would enable us to carry that relentless love from a heart at rest.

I heard the Lord say that ‘go’ would look different for each person, and that we needed to ask “What does ‘go’ look like for me?” “What does my showing the love of God look like?” “What does it look like for my personality, my skill sets, my gifts?”

For a prophetic person ‘go’ may look like using the prophetic gift to speak words of life over people. For a person with the gift of helps it may look like practical help given to someone who needed it. For someone with the gift of healing it may mean praying for healing or using medical training to make someone’s recovery quicker and easier. For an office worker, it may look like showing love to the person who annoys you at work. For a Mum, it may mean loving your kids, recognising the gifts and abilities that God has placed in them and providing ways to train and steward that.

For each of us our ‘go’ will look different, but it would be the relentless love of God, and the power within that love, that would be at work in us, compelling us to reach out, to ’go’.
