PROPHETIC WORDS
RE-TURN, RE-DIG AND RE-NAME!

“So Isaac left. He camped in the valley of Gerar and settled down there. Isaac dug again the wells which were dug in the days of his father Abraham but had been clogged up by the Philistines after Abraham’s death. And he renamed them, using the original names his father had given them.” Gen 26:17-18 MSG
Whenever a word begins with “re”, it means to do it again, or again and again! In this passage, Isaac re-turned (turned again) to the place of his father, he re-dug (dug again) the ancient wells that had been blocked up, and he re-named them (named again as his father had). He didn’t start afresh in a new place, with new wells and new names. He wasn’t trying to establish something in his own strength and for his own purpose. He was aligning with what his father had already established. He re-turned to the place of his father, re-dug the blocked up wells and re-named them according to Abraham’s original names.
I feel there is something very significant about this for people coming into the end of 2024 and the new of 2025. There is a returning, a re-digging and a renaming ahead.
Some have found themselves walking a path they didn’t expect or sign up for, and regardless of how they got there, there is an invitation to re-turn to the original path/place of the Father.
Some have found themselves stuck or with some blockages – wells have been stopped up or filled up with other things – and the water is no longer freely flowing or easily accessible. Some of these blockages could be in their emotions and thought patterns, or areas that the enemy is using to hold back and limit many in. There is an invitation to re-dig those areas/wells in our lives and return to the life giving water of Jesus.
And some have named some things in their lives, and their internal wells are starting to resemble those names. Diagnoses, fears, sicknesses, worries and unhealthy relationships, have become new names and identities that have caused the inner well to become a bit stagnant and dark. There is an invitation to re-name the wells in our life, according to what the Father calls them….
God is kind and gracious to us as His kids. And we ALL have areas that we’re doing well in, and some we need to re-turn to, re-dig, and re-name, in order to align with the good things God has in store!
