REFORMERS ARISE – YOU’RE BEING SHAPED AGAIN

At the beginning of October 2022 The Lord dropped a word into my spirit for 2023. It was an unfamiliar word to me, ‘Reformation.’

We have all prayed fervently for revival and there has been much transformative effect. However we are in a war, and with every war there are casualties. If you are reading this word, my prayer is that you will not be one of them.

The Word of God is vital in this season so that our love will not grow cold and we will have a fear of God. We need visionaries and practical steps to move us towards ‘reformation.’

‘Reform’

We often use the word ‘reform’ to refer to people who have brought social and political improvement. People like Martin Luther and Martin Luther King are often called reformers, but there is a deeper meaning to the word ‘reform’ – reform comes from a Latin word which means to shape again.

I believe that God wants to reshape Christians and the church in 2023. He wants to reshape us so that we avoid judgement, can walk in greater unity with Him and each other, and see His power released in the earth.

Shaped Again: ‘Persian Rug’

Two weeks after receiving the prophetic word ‘reformation’, I was shaken in my sleep during the early hours of the morning. It was as if someone grabbed my body and shook me violently – but no-one was there. As I sat on the side of the bed, trying to gather my thoughts on what had just happened, I took a deep breath to slow my heart rate down and calm my breathing. Once I knew that I was fine, I slowly went to lay my head back down on my pillow, but before I could close my eyes to go back to sleep I had an open-eye vision.

In this vision I saw a brightly coloured Persian rug. I have never seen those colours here on the earth, so I knew I was in the heavenly realm. I took a couple of steps towards the rug so I could touch it. Instantly my eyes fell on the picture carefully woven into the rug. I tried to make out what it could possibly be.

 I heard a deep voice say, “Walk closer and tell me what you see.”

 I answered, “I see a map of the world.”

 “Indeed, you are correct. Now look closer into the foundation of the rug. There, do you see it?” He asked.

 I nodded in agreement. It was tiny particles of dust and dirt caught in its foundation.

 Next I heard a loud ‘WHACK’. I leapt back, frightened by the sound.

 “You’d better get back further over there, this is going to be dusty,” I heard Him say.

 So I stood back where He pointed for me to be.

 WHACK, WHACK, WHACK

 He was right; the dust and dirt filled the air quickly. I couldn’t believe what my eyes were witnessing. The beautifully coloured Persian rug was filthy.

 “Why are you cleaning the rug with a rug beater? Why not use a vacuum?” I asked.

 He answered, “You cannot clean this rug with a vacuum, it will not remove all the dirt and dust. However, a rug beater will surely clean it from the foundation, so that the rug does not become brittle and abrasive.”

 He then pointed his finger to the map. His finger was on New Zealand. “Remember the dream I showed you in 2020, of picking up New Zealand like a rug and shaking it violently? Remember that I said I would be doing this with every nation?”

 I nodded my head in agreement. “There is more shaking to come. I am purging the tiny particles of dust and dirt that have settled in the foundations. I am using a carpet beater to really get to the core of the foundation,” He said.

 WHACK! He hit it again and more dust and dirt came out. He grabbed a particle from the air, turned towards me and said, “See this? It may look harmless, but the dirt and dust not only causes the rug to become brittle and abrasive; it causes breathing issues and many illnesses in people.”

 He pointed to the map and said, “These particles are also stopping My breath from moving in the land.”

 “Why is it stopping Your breath from moving in the land?” I asked.

 He looked into my eyes and said, “There is a clash of kingdoms coming. This dirt and dust represents that war about to be released by the anti-christ, through the spirit of religion.”

 “A spirit of religion? That's not new,” I said, with a questioning look on my face.

 “Yes, religion, ideologies, man-made systems and structures, all have been in the foundations too long, and the enemy is about to wreak havoc upon those causing a greater divide in the Body.”

 He then pointed again to the world map and said, “The nations will be defined not by who they are, but by who they belong to.” Then He turned back to me with fire in His eyes and a said in a stern voice,”Each of you will need to make the decision on who you belong to.” He turned back to the rug and blew on it.

Then He whispered, “Reformers Arise.”

Stop Procrastinating

In 2 Kings 12:1-10, the Bible talks about the rebuilding of the temple. It tells us that in the 23rd year of King Jehoash, the priests had not done anything with the money they received to fix the temple. Imagine 22 years of paying contractors to fix all the house issues you’ve encountered because the house was not built properly, but the repairs never happened because the contractors procrastinated! This is what happened with King Joash. Then in the 23rd year he changed his strategy and took drastic action to get the job done. This is what God wants us to do in 2023. He wants us to stop procrastinating over projects, Kingdom assignments, and spiritual disciplines He has told us to complete, and take action in 2023.

God is calling us to take action towards personal reformation. He wants to reshape us personally and reshape His church. He wants us to seek Him in prayer and the Word and ask Him to show us the areas that need to be shaped again. 

Taking Action Towards Personal Reformation

Deep calls to deep in the roar of your waterfalls; all your waves and
breakers have swept over me. (Psa 42:7)

We may not have a world-changing reformation like Martin Luther, Bishop Clemens Galen, Queen Esther, or Apostle Paul, but awakening to our own personal reformation begins by being with God through His Word and having a fear of God.  We cannot know what needs reshaping or reforming if we do not spend time knowing God.

In 2023 I see the Lord shifting religious thinking.  Not just theologically, but the religious habits, thought patterns and belief systems we have erected as a fortress keeping us from going deeper with God and one another. This is to position us for the spirit of revival that is to come.

As you read this, I’m believing that a spiritual hunger will be ignited in the depth of your soul, roaring for the deeper things of God.  The awakening will be like waves breaking and crashing over you, causing you to be swept by Him.

QUESTIONS TO CONSIDER

• How does God want to reshape me?

• Are there any areas of religious thinking or habits in my life?

• What have I adopted that is church culture and is not biblical?

• How does the early church in the book of Acts look different to my church, and what is God asking me to do about that?
  

PRAYER POINTS

Prayer is not just us coming to God with a list of requests. As part of our relationship with Him, it is us having a conversation with the Lord, which involves talking and listening on both sides. The following prayer points are some things you can talk to Him about in regards to this prophetic word.

• Pray for the restoration of God’s Word, and that it be made centralised in our churches.

• Pray for our church leaders to take the people in their churches back to the Word of God.

• Pray for church leaders as they emerge to reform the things of God. There will be a spirit of religion that will push back against it.

• Pray that personal reformation will ignite us. That we would be awakened to when God is moving on us and respond in obedience.

• Pray that we will not be easily shaken by the things of this world but by the things God is shaking.  Not all shakings are bad but for our good.  Pray that we might have greater discernment to understand when it is God and when it is not.
