MOVE – FROM DISAPPOINTMENT TO FRESH CONFIDENCE

One of things I know for sure is that the Lord is wanting to deal with disappointments in this season – in individuals’ lives and in church life – and it’s an important and ‘time critical’ work that He is doing.

A while ago I was thinking about a couple of big disappointments I’d faced during my life, and was talking to the Lord about them. Immediately, in my mind, I saw a very strong internal vision of myself walking up to an office door and opening it. There inside the office I was surprised to see myself sitting behind a desk with my head in my hands, looking and feeling despondent. Upon asking the Lord what I was seeing, I was told that this was the ‘Office of Accumulated Disappointments’. On the desk in front of me sat folders that contained the stories of disappointments that I’d experienced, but had not dealt with. Sadly some went back many years and were ones that I thought I’d got over. In the vision I saw myself picking up the folders one by one, looking at the contents and processing them, then being able to bin them. Needless to say, the vision was a very clear message from the Lord that these overlooked disappointments needed to be dealt with, or else they would continue to weigh me down and hamper me,

As I’ve processed through those disappointments I’ve become aware that the vision was not just about me, but about many other people’s lives also. The Lord is asking us to look at the hurts we’ve allowed to accumulate within us, undealt with.

I felt the Lord say this – “It’s time to deal with those hurts, those disappointments; they are holding you back from all I have for you to walk in. I am wanting to move you into a fresh season of restored and renewed vision, of hope, of purpose and provision. But I need you to be willing to let go the disappointments of past situations and past seasons. Disappointment is seeking to dis-appoint you, to remove you from your appointed place in Me, that place I have for you of peace, hope, purpose, and destiny – both in life, and in Christ. It is seeking to overcome you, to steal from you vision and faith in my promises to you. It is seeking to cut off your provision. Don’t let it; rise up, face the hurt, bring it to Me and allow Me to heal it and allow Me to give you fresh vision for your life. The plans I have for you are for good; I don’t make false promises. I counsel you also, readjust your expectations going forward. I don’t promise that you will be immune from hurts, from disappointments in life, but I do promise that I will be with you in whatever you face in life, I will not leave you to go through things alone. I will give you wisdom as you ask for it, and a way forward. I will lead you and guide you lovingly with My eye upon you, and My ear turned toward you. I will be there with you and for you. Surrender the disappointments to Me and allow Me to bear them, to carry them away so you can see clearly again and move forward with renewed confidence, knowing that I go with you!”

Action point

You may already be aware of disappointments you have that need to be processed through with the Lord. Please make time to do so, allowing Him to heal and restore you. Sometimes, though, we also have hidden, undealt-with hurts, one’s we’ve pushed down into our subconscious. Ask the Lord to show you any hidden areas of disappointment that your heart is holding onto, so that you can be healed of them.

PRAYER POINTS

Prayer is not just us coming to God with a list of requests. As part of our relationship with Him, it is us having a conversation with the Lord, which involves talking and listening on both sides. The following prayer points are some things you can talk to Him about in regards to this prophetic word.

• Pray for the Body of Christ – there is so much unhealed disappointment within God’s people that is hampering them from stepping boldly and confidently into the plans and purposes that He has for them. Pray that they will see their hurts and turn to Him for healing.

• Pray for a fresh revelation of God’s love and power for yourself and for others. This is part of the healing process.

• Pray for a fresh infilling of the Holy Spirit’s power for us all to be witnesses. There is a world out there that needs healing, and our testimonies of the healing we’ve received from God in relation to hurts, wounds etc. is part of reaching them and showing them that God cares for them, too.
