PROPHETIC WORDS

IT’S TIME TO INHABIT THE SHIFT

by Lyn Packer

May 2021.

I was in a time of worship the other day when I very clearly heard the Lord say, “IT’S TIME TO INHABIT THE SHIFT”.

A little while later we were singing ‘Show Me Your Glory’ and again I clearly heard the Lord speak. He said quite strongly “SHOW ME YOUR GLORY!”. I instinctively knew, by the Holy Spirit, that this statement was connected to the previous one and the shift we were to inhabit – it was about us fully inhabiting and displaying the glory He has given us as sons and daughters of God.

I was straight away reminded of the verse in John 17:22-23 where Jesus said, “I have given them the glory You gave Me, so that they may be one as We are one. I in them and You in Me—that they may be perfectly united, so that the world may know that You sent Me and have loved them just as You have loved Me.…”

Jesus has given us His glory – the same weighty value, honour, and power that the Father gave Him – and He wants that glory to be on display for a purpose… that the world may know the Father loves them as He loves Jesus and loves us!

Then the Lord said, “I’VE SHOWN YOU MY HEART FOR MANKIND, FOR THE EARTH. I’VE SHOWN YOU WHAT I WANT IT TO LOOK LIKE. I’VE PROVISIONED YOU THROUGH MY SPIRIT AND MY WORD. MY QUESTION IS – WHAT DO YOU WANT THIS WORLD TO LOOK LIKE AND WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO ABOUT THAT? HOW ARE YOU GOING TO RELEASE AND SHOW YOUR GLORY – THE GLORY I GAVE YOU?”

As I prayed into it and discussed it through with the Lord I felt Him begin to show me that inhabiting the shift and showing our glory relates to us stepping up and intentionally manifesting the Kingdom as mature sons and daughters of God. It is time to become more intentional than ever in being His representatives and releasing Heaven into Earth, and it is time to ‘shift’ some things in the earth, and in people’s lives, that need displacing and shifting.

Many of us are still waiting for the unveiling of the next season, waiting to understand and have clarity on how to move forward, but I felt that the Lord wants us to choose to position ourselves by faith and see ourselves as already inhabiting what He is releasing in the earth. How do we do that? The word inhabit means – to take possession of, set up home in, to live, to dwell. It’s about taking ownership, making it your own. You need to not just feel God’s glory, not just have some nice experiences of His presence with you, but fully take possession of that glory, inhabit it, and live out of it.

Inhabiting is done by seeing, faith and action

Seeing in this case is two-fold – it is seeing what the Lord shows you sovereignly, and also it is seeing by faith what He has already shown us in Scripture. Seeing what He has shown us in Scripture is done by using the eyes of our heart which is our God-given imagination (the phrase “eyes of your heart” means imagination in the original Greek). Paul says in Eph 1:18- 23. “I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.”

Inhabiting the shift is also about stewarding well, and looking after, what we inhabit. You can inhabit a new home but if you don’t look after it, care for it, and maintain it, then it will fall into decay. So we must check and ask ourselves, “How have I stewarded the glory Jesus gave me? What sort of condition is that glory in?” If you’ve neglected it simply repent and determine that you will value it and walk in it.

Faith is about believing God, knowing He is not a liar – if He says He has given you authority then He has. If He says that He has provided all you need then believe it and use what He has given you.

What’s in the glory that Jesus gave you? That very same glory God gave Him! All the attributes of God Himself, the gifts of the Spirit, the fruits of the Spirit, and the dunamis power of God. You have been given the right and authority to represent Him and to use all the resources of Heaven to do His will and extend His Kingdom.

Part of “inhabiting the shift” is letting the glory that Jesus gave us be revealed, manifesting that glory, that power, that love! Instead of believing what the devil tells you, that you can’t see the sick healed, the downcast encouraged, you can’t see miracles happen etc., choose instead to position yourself intentionally in the gift of the glory Jesus gave you, inhabit it and use it. All of heaven and all of creation is longing for you to manifest your glory; even the earth itself will feel the effects and be blessed. “I am convinced that any suffering we endure is less than nothing compared to the magnitude of glory that is about to be unveiled within us. The creation waits in eager expectation for the revelation of the sons of God… in hope that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the freedom and glory of the children of God.” Rom 8:19-21.

Use your God-given authority to destroy the works of the devil. Step out and do what the Lord calls you to do, unashamedly, knowing that the Trinity (The Father, Jesus Christ, and Holy Spirit) will back you up, angels will minister alongside you, provision from heaven will be released into the situation and “shift” will happen. People will be restored, healed, delivered, and saved. Let the love, kindness, mercy, and patience you show transform the life of those you come in contact with.  Release justice. Don’t stay silent when injustices happen; speak up and work to see justice released. Lay hands on the sick and see them recover. Show your glory, and in doing so, glorify the One who has sent you, just as Jesus did!
